Kitchener

Kitchener is an exciting business and industrial based cosmopolitan community found within the region of Waterloo within southwestern Ontario, Canada. The city was first recognized as a German Company Tract founded by German Mennonite farmers who fled to Upper Canada in pursuit of religious freedom following the American Revolutionary War.

The city of Kitchener has many natural and scenic attractions which could offer its visitors, due to its nearness to the the glacial topography on the landscape and the Grand River. The most popular natural tourist attractions consist of the Victoria, McLennan, and Kiwanis Parks; Bingemans, a 200-acre beautiful camping resort located along the Grand River; Chicopee Ski Club, Ontario's ski and snowboard center; Chicopee Tube Park; and Grand Valley Trails, an extensive trail system which is spread throughout hundreds of kilometers.

There are many festivals being held annually in the city of Kitchener comprising the Contemporary Art Forum Kitchener and Area (CAFKA); the innovative and adventurous Open Ears Festival of Music and Sound; the IMPACT theatre festival, a global theater festival that features shows throughout the globe; the Multicultural Festival, a summer festival which commends ethnic diversity; and the Expressions of Social Justice Festival, which aims to bring to light matters in social justice through film.

Kitchener's financial system was historically founded on the manufacturing business. This trend has remained till today with the automotive manufacturing as the top trade. Knowledge creation cluster and education ranks as the 2nd strongest trade within the city, dominated by the two universities in the Kitchener-Waterloo area and Conestoga College. This trend is projected to continue with the opening of the University of Waterloo's School of Pharmacy on King Street.

Kitchener city's four municipal business parks--the Grand River West Business Park, the Huron Business Park, the Lancaster Corporate Centre and the Bridgeport Business Park-likewise provide significant contributions to the local economy. Meanwhile, the constant revival of the city's downtown "Center Block" is intended to draw businesses to invest in Kitchener city and provide economic diversity.
