Kansas City

The city of Kansas, Kansas is the third largest city within the state. Kansas City serves as the county seat of Wyandotte County and is considered the third largest suburb of Kansas City, within Missouri. The "Unified Government" is the term which means part of a consolidated city-county government and Kansas City, together with the other cities Edwardsville and Bonner Springs make up this amalgamation. The population of the city was 145,786 according to the 2010 Census. The city is situated at Kaw Point. This is the junction made by the Missouri River and Kansas River. It is home to the area's only major league soccer team, in addition to the Kansas Speedway.

Kansas City is home to the Federal Bureau of Prisons North Central Region Office, the Associated Wholesale Grocers and the Kansas City Steak Company. The General Motors Fairfax Assembly Plant, which manufactures the Buick LaCrosse and the Chevrolet Malibu additionally call Kansas City home.

Village West is an expansive property located at the junction of Interstates 70 and 435. Amongst their well-known tenants include Hollywood Casino, The Legends at Village West, Nebraska Furniture mart, Kansas Speedway and Great Wolf Lodge. The home of the Kansas City T-Bones of the American Association is the Community America Ballpark and the home of Sporting Kansas City of Major League Soccer is the Livestrong Sporting Park. During the year 2009, a 370 acre waterpark and resort referred to as Schlitterbahn Vacation Village opened across I-435 from Village West during the month of June of that same year.

Google said in March of 2011 that Kansas City had been chosen as the preferred site of a trial fiber-optic network which Google will construct at no cost to Kansas City. From a field of 1100 communities within the country that had applied for the network, Kansas City was chosen. Google plans to have the network operating by 2012. There is an Online Training Academy Center located within Kansas as well.

Kansas City is home to lots of buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kansas City within Kansas is located here and covers approximately 12,500 square miles within the eastern part of the state.

Memorial Hall is an indoor arena and auditorium that seats 3,500 and is situated in downtown Kansas City. This particular venue provides a stage which is permanent and is used for sporting events, public assemblies and concerts.

Located in the city of Kansas, there are plenty of Queen Anne style of architecture. John G. Braecklein built a Victorian home for Margaret and John Scroggs within the region of Strawberry Hill.
