Chicago City, that is known to have several names, like "The City of Big Shoulders", "The Windy City" and "The Second City" is considered the biggest city within the United States. It has over 3 million individuals following Midwestern United States and the state of Illinois. Located on the shores of Lake Michigan in the heart of the Midwest, it is the 3rd most inhabited city in the US.
The city has a lovely lakefront which has drawn a lot of tourists and visitors throughout the year. The northern side of Chicago has a broad lesbian and gay community base, especially the Andersonville and Lakeview areas. Due to the diverse cultural communities which exist within the area, there are several ethnic restaurant districts which are available all over. Amongst them consist of "Little Seoul," that is a group of Vietnamese restaurants on Argyle Street; "Greektown" on South Halsted, "Chinatown", located on the south side, "Paseo Boricua," an enclave of Puerto Rico which is situated within the Humboldt Park area; and "Pilsen," a Mexican village on the 18th street.
Chicago has a great arts and entertainment scene with various performing arts. There are two famous improvisational or comedy theatre troupes that are very popular within Chicago City: the I.O. and The Second City. Improvisational theatre is a more modern take on the traditional theatre. Other theater companies comprise the Victory Gardens, the Steppenwolf Theatre and the Goodman Theatre. Tourists who really want to watch Broadway entertainment at theatres can visit Drury Lane Theatre Water Tower Place, Cadillac Palace Theatre, Auditorium Building of Roosevelt University, Bank of America Theatre, and Ford Center for the Performing Arts Oriental Theatre. For music enthusiasts, there are classical music presentations provided by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, which is referred to as amongst the world's finest orchestras. A more diverse and multicultural counterpart of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra is the Chicago Sinfonietta. For outdoor concerts, there is the Millenium Park, Grant Park and Ravinia Park. For Ballet and dance fans, there are the the Chicago Festival Ballet, the Jeoffrey Ballet and the Hubbarb Street Dance Chicago. Music lovers can also get a taste of live music from the Chicago Soul, Chicago Blues, gospel and jazz. Yearly music festivals, such as the Intonation Music Festival, the Pitchfork Music festival and the Lollapalooza are amongst the wonderful music highlights every year.
For visitors, the city provides lots of attractions, like The Art Institute's Modern Wing, the Millenium Park, Skydeck Chicago's The Ledge, and The Chicago Cultural Center.
