Located twenty nine miles east of San Francisco, Concord is a city in Contra Costa County, California. It is the biggest city in the County, with an estimated population of 125,000 or more, covering 31.13 square miles. The city rests nearby Mt. Diablo.
Around 13% of the population within Contra Costa Country is represented by the population within Concord and that would continue to grow as Concord is amongst the fastest growing countries in the San Francisco Bay Area. The central location to surrounding communities as well as its copious population makes Concord a great place for companies to locate. It offers a huge customer base and an educated personnel.
Concord is very well located and provides residents with easy access to Napa Valley, San Fransisco, Silicon Valley and Sacramento. The Immediate Bay Area offers different activities and scenic routes and the warm climate encourages residents to enjoy the scenic attractions all over Northern California.
The major attraction in downtown Concord is Todos Santos Plaza. This area is popular for its farmers market, various restaurants, and free summer concerts. To be able to take advantage of the public transportation and the gorgeous area around the park, the city has recently redeveloped the downtown area, adding new apartment and condominium projects. Sadly, this has not totally solved the crime and homelessness matters in the downtown area.
Before, Concord has served as a bedroom community for larger cities nearby, like for example San Francisco and Oakland. Nonetheless, in the past couple of decades, the job market within the city has increased. Back-office operation like those from Chevron and Bank of America, have been established here. These have helped to bring a wider variety in the local economy. Among the biggest shopping malls in the United States, Sunvalley Mall, is located here, and many auto dealerships, Cosco, and Fry's Electronics. Before being shut down in the year 2008, the web site hosting provider Atrivo also headquartered here.
