Hollywood

Hollywood is the 12th biggest city in the state of Florida. It is situated in the county of Broward, Florida within the United States. Hollywood had a population of 140,768 based on the Census of the year 2010. Hollywood was established during the year 1925 and the region rapidly grew in the 1950s and during the 1960s. For the South Florida metropolitan area, Hollywood is a principal city and during the same 2010 census, there were 5,564,635 individuals calling the vicinity home.

In the start of the 1920s, Joseph Wesley Young, a visionary planner, established the community. It wasn't until November 28, the year 1925, when Hollywood was incorporated as a township. Young wanted to provide a city for everyone; he wished to build his "Dream City in Florida." The vision included all people from the humblest working class to the rich at the top of the social ladder. In 1928, Mr. Young helped to secure the financing and provide the motivation to create Port Everglades. Roughly 80% of the Port is situated in the limits of the city. These days, the Port is one of the busiest in the United States.

Hollywood provides access into the 2nd busiest cruise port in the world, the Port Everglades. The Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is one more super busy location. The Miami International Airport and the Port of Miami are about 25 miles away. Two main railroads cut through Hollywood, together with the Tri-County Commuter Rail and the Florida Turnpike.

The city of Hollywood is nestled between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. It is a classic Florida beach town. It has enchanted and attracted visitors ever since the 1920s. The Hollywood Beach Boardwalk is an oceanfront walkway within Hollywood Beach. This one-of-a-kind unique boardwalk stretches practically two and a half miles alongside the Atlantic Ocean. Travel and Leisure Magazine has named it one of America's Best Beach Boardwalks. There are many cafes and eateries alongside the stretch and the brick paved setup is a haven for joggers, bicyclists and roller-bladers.

The city has a quaint village feel and easy access to the ocean, which has made it an extremely popular destination for families. Situated on the city's boardwalk are many small inns, highly rated restaurants and hotels. The family dining ambiance is perfect for dads and moms who would like to relax and enjoy a meal near the sea while their kids could entertain themselves in the sand just steps away. The area definitely offers something for everyone and is a great place to visit regardless what your age.

There are 2 parks situated along the boardwalk that attract kids and adults of various ages. They can play paddleball at the historic courts on Garfield Street or they could cool off in a fun dolphin play fountain. Josh's Organic Market is a really popular location. The locals rave about it. They install shop at the south end of the boardwalk every weekend. This outdoor market blends various tropical smoothies and delicious fresh drinks from their seaside stand.

On the northern border of the city, the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is situated. It is considered to be one of the fastest growing airports in the USA. Within the City of Hollywood, Port Everglades is conveniently situated. It is one of South Florida's strongest economic engines as it generates more than $10.6 billion in waterborne revenue on a yearly basis. The area has more than 15 linear miles of commercial corridors targeted for business opportunities, and redevelopment.
