North Las Vegas is a city within Nevada, United States. The metropolis lies within the Las Vegas metropolitan area. Portion of Clark County, North Las Vegas covers 203 square kilometers of land in the southwest Mojave Desert, east and north of Las Vegas.
The city of North Las Vegas is served by major thoroughfares I-15 and CC-215. Transit service all over the Las Vegas metropolitan area is provided by RTC Transit. McCarran International Airport, located south of Las Vegas and North Las Vegas, deals with both global and local airline travel. The North Las Vegas Airport handles both business and tourist travel. Tours to the Grand Canyon are also offered from this airport.
Together with the cities of Henderson and Las Vegas, North Las Vegas is situated in the Las Vegas Valley. The Valley is is part of the Las Vegas-Paradise metropolitan area, which includes all of Clark County. This Valley supports the highest number of population within the entire Nevada State. The metropolitan area's population is currently approximately 2 million. The Valley is defined by a 1,600 km2 basin, bordered by the Sheep Mountains towards the north, the Muddy Mountains towards the east, the Black Mountains towards the south and the Spring Mountains to the west.
The names Vegas and Las Vegas are often utilized to represent the whole area. The names can mean the strip, the city and valley. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority has the right to use the names as a brand.
North Las Vegas has been going through high unemployment and various economic difficulties. Future job growth for the city is expected to be more than 20%.
