Forklift Accidents
Forklift accidents are usually because of the careless use of the forklift. This takes place when the forklift operator is not trained well in safety procedures. Anybody operating a forklift has to utilize caution to lessen the possibility of mishaps and to prevent possible dangers.

Forklift Accident Statistics:
OSHA, which is responsible for monitoring workplace safety, reports on the occurrence of forklift mishaps. On average, every three days somebody dies in a forklift accident in the United States. Approximately 95,000 injuries happen in forklift related accidents every year. The vast majority of these mishaps could have been avoided if correct safety procedures had been followed. There are even internet sites dedicated to reporting stories of forklift mishaps.

Both businesses and individuals suffer as a result of forklift mishaps. There are many reasons why employers should take steps to minimize the risk. One of the biggest reasons is to avoid risk of lawsuits if somebody is injured. Second, mishaps cut down on working time. Thirdly, property and goods can be damaged during mishaps. The majority of accidents are attributed to staff who are not trained. Employers are responsible for making sure that workers who are utilizing the forklift are correctly trained in safety and risks. Never let anyone on a forklift who isn't trained to use the forklift. Your business must develop and post in a visible place all forklift safety procedures.

Instead of going through training because employees are required to, they should have a positive attitude in doing so. You as the employer should help employees know the importance of correct training. Let them know that they could kill or injure not only themselves, but other individuals, if they make mistakes. It is up to you to ensure that your staff go through training seriously.
