Lift Truck Parts in More Detail
A forklift is constructed from many parts. The major parts that make up a forklift truck are the truck frame, the engine components, the overhead guard, the wheels and the tilt cylinders. What's more, a forklift consists of different types of attachments. All the components making up a forklift are of equal importance since they work together to make the machine's functions possible. The subsequent paragraphs describe in detail several of the lift truck components.

The Overhead Guard - The overhead guard is actually the forklifts metal roof, that sits atop the operator cab. It's job is to protect the operator while they are using the equipment. The overhead guard makes sure that nothing falling from above onto the truck will injure the driver or damage the controls in the cab. The overhead guard is vital to the frame assembly on several models.

The Mast - Mounted either to the forklift frame or the front axle, the mast is the vertical forklift part made of interlocking rails. The mast enables the forks to move upwards and downwards while providing lateral stability. The interlocking rails could either have bushings or bushings as guides. There are a couple of ways the mast could be operated: hydraulically by one or more hydraulic cylinders or chain operated with motive power provided by a hydraulic motor.

Lift Truck Carriage - The carriage is the component that the forks and different other attachments are mounted to. The carriage is in fact directly connected to the hydraulic cylinder and is connected by chains. To enable the forks to be lowered and raised, the carriage could have either rollers or bushings to guide it in the interlocking mast rails.

Load Back Rest - a back rest is a metal rack which keeps a load from falling backwards while the carriage is raised to its full height. The back rest is either welded or bolted on to the carriage.

Lift Truck Attachments - a variety of attachments could be fixed to the front of the lift truck. The most common kind of attachment is forks. Also, there are L-shaped members, rotators, rollers, roll clamps, pole handlers and and all that. These different kinds of attachments are really useful for moving different types of loads.
