Caterpillar Diesel Forklifts

Caterpillar Diesel Forklifts

Forklifts are vehicles usually found in factories, warehouses and other work sites where it is necessary to move heavy materials from one location to another. The mast is the mechanism situated on the front of the forklift which hydraulically lowers and raises the load. The "cat" is the area that is protected where the forklift driver sits.

Forklifts can carry loads that weigh between one to five tons. Various types can be used to raise shipping containers and much heavier loads.

Forklift tires should be maintained and checked regularly. The kinds of tires on different forklifts differ based on factors like ground surfaces, frequency of use and load weights. Each and every forklift operator must have access to tire press, replacement tires and a forklift jack.

Tire Maintenance Instructions
You must frequently check the tires. Watch for indications of damage and wear to the tires. If the wear on the tire exceeds 40 percent, it should be replaced.

When you buy tires, be sure you purchase the right type - pneumatic, polyurethane or solid.

When you need to replace the tires, the forklift jack should be positioned under the tire. You could easily change the tires if you raise the forklift high enough.

To remove the damaged tire, pull the tire from the rim using the tire press. Install the new tire and properly secure it. If you are changing more than one tire and you only have one jack, lower the forklift, and then reposition the jack at the next tire.

A repair company could provide on-site tire repair. If the tire is extremely big for both mobile and in-house tire presses, the damaged tire must be transported to a shop that has a stationary tire press.
