Taylor Counterbalance Forklift

Getting Aboard the Forklift
The 3-point dismount is one of the keys to keeping operators safe. It is the key issue for maintaining operator safety, even though this is often overlooked. For example, several years ago, at a lift truck rally, a participator executed the course perfectly at a lift truck rally. At the end of his run, he was so thrilled, that he jumped off of his machinery and forgot to make a 3-point dismount. The judges ended up docking marks from his overall score and he failed to win the competition.

The importance of dismounting and mounting forklifts is a very serious factor to be included in training. In addition, having operators wear their seatbelts could really save their lives in case of a tip-over. It is necessary to understand that if the center of gravity of a loaded forklift moves outside of the stability triangle then a tip-over situation can occur. Trained drivers seldom ever run into a tip-over situation, however, it is really vital that they are ready for that risk in case it occurs.

Mount/Dismount
The importance of correctly dismounting and mounting any type of forklift, including even a low platform pallet jack is vital to ensuring the operator stays safe. Far too many injuries occur when complacency happens around these machinery. Several of the serious situations include: Operator's catching their coveralls or loose clothing while dismounting and can end up falling and breaking their back. Sometimes, the operator can sprain or break an ankle when they step off of a lift truck. The driver can break an arm accidentally while falling and slipping off of the pallet jack. The operator could suffer from torn shoulder muscles if they slip on floor debris when they are still hanging onto the handhold with one hand.

Having 3 points of contact is necessary when mounting or dismounting a forklift in order to keep you safe. The 3 points can be obtained by 1 foot and 2 hands or by 2 feet and 1 hand. This stance is exactly like climbing up or down a ladder. Remember to face the equipment at all times. Drivers usually have a tendency to face away from the machine or to hop or jump off the equipment and these mistakes greatly reduce the overall risk being injured.

For a lot of companies, Taylors counterbalance lift trucks offer a great solution. They can withstand a variety of environments and conditions and are extremely durable. They are built to last and dependable.
